Department of Social Education
Our team prepares future social educators or social workers to work with all different groups of people and from different type of environments. We offer full-time and part-time study programs of Social Education and Child and Youth Afterschool Education (only part time, combined) tought in czech language. WE offer also one bachelor study program in English language, Education for Diversity and Inclusion.
Since its inception at Masaryk University, the Department of Social Education has evolved from a single degree track into a comprehensive center for academic excellence and social innovation. While the foundation for a full-time bachelor's program was laid in 1998, the department officially established its independent identity in 2002. Over the following decades, it consistently scaled its academic offerings, introducing a master’s program in 2008 and reaching a pinnacle of academic autonomy in 2016 with the accreditation of its own doctoral (Ph.D.) program.
The department is characterized by its collaborative and forward-thinking spirit, evidenced by its 2016 expansion into interdisciplinary double-subject programs—linking social education with social work and environmental studies—and its 2018 focus on entrepreneurship within leisure education. Most recently, the department has embraced a global perspective with the 2023 launch of the Education for Diversity and Inclusion bachelor's program, offered entirely in English to meet the demands of a modern, pluralistic society.
